Philips: Pittsburgh Innovation Center

Pittsburgh, PA

An open, flexible office space that supports innovation for health technology in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood.

A global leader in the development of sleep and respiratory solutions, Philips Respironics desired a new space based on collaboration, flexibility, mobility, and sustainability. To serve this mission, Perkins Eastman worked with Philips to envision their Digital Hub as a place that attracts top talent with state-of-the-art technology, analog-type work tools, and flexible workspaces. A prototype for its future workplaces, the design provides a creative environment for new product development, marketing, and co-creation with outside companies and the local community. The space incorporates the clean Dutch design aesthetic of Philips’ heritage and takes cues from the company’s expertise and development in the respiratory market with a pantry ceiling designed to appear as though it is breathing.
