A love of cities and urban culture has motivated Michael’s career in architecture and urban design for over forty years. He believes that the relationships between things are as important as the things themselves; this is the basis of his conviction that every building must engage its context in an intentional manner and positively impact the public realm around it. A committed generalist, Michael has led the design of diverse project types, from large-scale urban master plans and campus plans to schools, office buildings, apartments, courthouses, and laboratories. His design approach applies universal principles that transcend program and building type to create durable designs to serve the public and their cities today and for future generations.
