Malcolm grew up on the west coast, living in both urban and rural areas of California and Oregon before moving to Europe, where he traveled extensively while he studied in Copenhagen. That shift in perspective gave him a profound appreciation for diverse cultures and placemaking architecture. His studies in Denmark in particular ignited his passion for designing buildings that speak to their surroundings, form spaces that enhance the human experience, and express personality through a keen attention to detail. As a senior associate in Perkins Eastman’s Oakland studio, Malcolm works between several practice areas including educational, municipal, and state-funded projects of varying scales and complexities. With each building type, he’s gained experience navigating multiple jurisdictions and governing authorities to see projects through from conception to construction—and has become a resourceful problem solver in the process.
