Perkins Eastman PEople Culture Manager Emily Pierson-Brown

Emily Pierson-Brown

AIA, AICP, LEED Green Associate

Associate Principal
PEople Culture Manager

"At its essence, Human by Design is about how our work is inspired, shaped, and informed by who we are as people. Seeing ourselves reflected in our leaders and project teams is a critical part of building a world in which we each find meaning and belonging."

Emily’s focus on building equitable, healthy communities stems from her upbringing as the only child of a single mother and as a member of the LGBTQ community. She brought her fierce advocacy for marginalized voices and inclusive design to Perkins Eastman in 2016, and has an additional 15 years of experience in planning, architecture, and design in the Washington, DC, region. As our PEople Culture Manager, Emily leads our firmwide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Initiative and works with our studios to shape our Human by Design culture. Emily focuses her design work in the Senior Living practice area where she works with clients to shape the vision of the project through strategic master planning and goal setting.

Our Perkins Eastman

Emily has been involved in the Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) since 2018, has co-led the group since 2020, and has worked with the firmwide DE&I initiative since 2020. She was honored with AIA Pennsylvania’s 2022 Impact Designer Award for her work “to design and create a better world through innovative, scalable, and measurable solutions.”
