Located on Scarlet Knight Way, the Rodkin Academic Success Center consolidates all the academic support services for Rutgers Athletics within a single building. Serving more than seven hundred student athletes, the facility offers support space for academic advising, one-on-one and group tutoring, seminar instruction, a computer lab, and a range of lounges fostering peer-to-peer teaching, learning, and study environments.
Perkins Eastman was instrumental in the creation and design of this project, including Athletic Campus Master Planning, programming, and the design-build bridging documentation for the facility (later executed via design-build by Natoli Construction and Ewing Cole). In addition, the facility is the new home for Rutgers Athletic Department administration offices and the training facility for the Men’s and Women’s’ Lacrosse and Soccer Programs, including sports medicine and hydrotherapy, strength and conditioning, locker rooms, nutrition, equipment, coaches offices, and a film room.
Perkins Eastman also developed fundraising and development support materials, including a customized interactive app, to assist the university with fundraising for its ‘R BIG TEN BUILD’ campaign. The efforts helped secure the largest single gift in Rutgers Athletics history, a $15 million donation from Gary and Barbara Rodkin.
