John Lewis Elementary Receives International Recognition

The Net-Zero-Ready school was named among four international finalists for the James D. MacConnell Award

We are honored that our work with John Lewis Elementary School was among the four international finalists for the 2023 James D. MacConnell Award, the most prestigious of all the Association for Learning Environment’s (A4LE) Awards.  The MacConnell Award celebrates comprehensive projects that address, in an exceptional manner, a detailed and specific planning process resulting in a learning environment that supports the educational goals of the district, the needs of a community and is student-centered for active and dynamic learning.

Shortlisted projects are selected for manifesting A4LE’s Core Values of:

  • Learners First
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • Innovation
  • Collaboration, Collegiality, Connection
  • Respect
  • Place Matters

Our design for John Lewis Elementary clearly embraces and celebrates these values to create a sustainable, healthy, high-performance school that inspires a sense of joy and wonder among its students, and that has become the center of its diverse community.
