The social aspect of the built environment should be in the forefront of our conversation about sustainability. As designers, we can better understand how our environments impact us psychologically and physiologically to create architecture that promotes positive, transformative interactions. Associate Hillary DeGroff IIDA, LEED AP ID+C, and architect McCall Wood have co-authored the white paper “Biophilic Design” to explore the potential impacts and benefits that the approach can have in Senior Living environments, using select Perkins Eastman projects as case studies.
