UC Davis: Telemedicine Resource Center

Sacramento, CA

This statewide hub for medical education features benchmark space for black-box simulation training and emphasizes telehealth services for underserved areas of California.

As technology transforms the practice of medicine and the experiences of patients, training spaces for healthcare professionals are changing as well. Perkins Eastman’s design for the UC Davis Telemedicine Resource Center provides state-of-the-art learning environments, telemedicine consultation environments, and the required technology infrastructure to develop new programs for medical education. The facility’s innovative use of flexible environments and media aids in the access to and delivery of clinical services. Working in a collaborative, technology-driven process, the design team created state-of-the-art telemedicine support facilities that serve as a magnet for faculty, students, residents, and other healthcare professionals likely to practice in rural areas, which comprise a significant percentage of California’s communities.
