Completing Rutgers University’s Livingston Campus athletic quadrangle, the award-winning RWJBarnabas Health Athletic Performance Center provides student athletes a home away from home. Perkins Eastman designed a four-story building housing state-of-the-art facilities for basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, and an expanded nutrition, sports medicine, hydrotherapy, and health and wellness program for all university athletes. More than a sports complex, the new building includes offices for athletic department administration and coaches as well as clinical exam facilities where dedicated trainers, sports medicine physicians, and a variety of other specialists provide support to student-athletes. Uniquely, the RWJBaranbus Health Athletic Performance Center provides Rutgers Athletics extensive strength & conditioning space, WNBA and NBA VIP viewing suites, a Rutgers Hall-of-Fame, and a Spirit Store. The center’s plan links the academic campus with athletic fields, creating a cohesive, walkable realm for students, staff, and visitors.
