The first project completed as a part of the Rutgers University ‘R BIG TEN BUILD’ campaign, the Marco Battaglia Football Practice Complex provides the Rutgers football program with one of the best outdoor practice facilities in the country. Perkins Eastman’s design includes four new playing fields—one synthetic field, one partial synthetic field, and two natural fields with a state-of-the-art irrigation system. Spanning the width of a football field, a new pavilion provides space for sports medicine support, storage, and bathrooms. The complex includes sophisticated monitoring and watering of fields with remote operations and support capabilities. New film towers, scoreboards, and a LED video board provide a modern benchmark in practice support for the football program as well as men’s and women’ soccer and lacrosse. Football game-day events utilize the LED jumbo-tron and a new entry befitting the birthplace of college football includes a monument park hall-of-fame.
