Perkins Eastman assisted the school district with prioritizing projects that would address immediate needs and provide long-term benefits. Improvements include a new library building, campus-wide technology upgrade, and a new commercial kitchen. The new library will serve as a communications hub, gathering place, and creative environment suitable to teach and inspire students—not just a place to store and retrieve books. The rural aesthetic, borrowed from Gilroy’s agricultural heritage, provides a practical and sustainable high-volume form that houses a reading room, classroom, meeting room, 800 linear feet of book storage, computer kiosks, and restrooms. Sustainable design features include daylight harvesting, natural ventilation, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and recycled-content materials.
