Home to many of NYU Langone Medical Center’s cutting-edge research programs, the New York University Winthrop Research Institute tackles obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and other pressing public health issues head-on. Designing the Institute’s new translational research and medical education facility, Perkins Eastman planned a fully integrated campus that supports clinical trials, drug development and gene therapy, and health outcome studies. To encourage interaction, flexible laboratories connect to clinical research and patient care environments through communal spaces. A large open circulation stair, populated with small conversation zones, promotes interactivity and nurtures creative, independent and team discoveries.
