The Harbor-UCLA Medical Center campus is undergoing a thoughtful transformation to better serve the changing healthcare needs of Los Angeles County residents. Central to this transformation is the creation of the Restorative Care Village (RCV), a compassionate sanctuary designed to provide holistic mental health care, crisis support, and social services for the local community.

Guided by a comprehensive needs assessment, the RCV will offer a range of essential services: an adult psychiatric health facility, crisis residential treatment program, urgent care center for both adults and adolescents, intensive outpatient services, adult and children’s outpatient programs, and a wellness center.

The RCV is envisioned as a low-density, village-like healing environment, prioritizing outdoor access to gardens and abundant natural light to uplift the spirits of patients and staff alike. Thoughtful wayfinding ensures that each path through the village feels clear and welcoming. Designed in harmony with the surrounding campus, the RCV will align with future plans for the inpatient tower, outpatient tower, and surrounding pathways, creating a calm, therapeutic atmosphere that nurtures healing for all who visit and work within this restorative space.
