Through its programming, planning and design, the International Magnet School for Global Citizenship (IMS) nurtures and supports the education and development of 450 students from Pre-K through Fifth Grade. The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme serves as the school’s curriculum and foundation for day-to-day goals and overall mission. Within the facility, students and faculty are provided purpose-built spaces designed to reinforce the IB goals of global citizenship. A “globally connected” media center and technology lab anchors the school at the center, literally and figuratively, and fulfills the only stipulated IB facility requirement. Art and Music rooms along with community spaces including the “blue box” hybrid theater-gymnasium activate the public face of the building while smaller-scaled grade-level neighborhoods support the varying developmental needs of both lower and upper elementary students.
