The Borgata brings the sophisticated and unparalleled dimension of Las Vegas to gaming visitors in Atlantic City. The 43-story complex contains 2,002 luxury guest rooms and suites and gaming space. It features a variety of first-class amenities including 11 gourmet restaurants, 11 specialty retail boutiques, a European health spa and pool, a 1,000-seat performance theatre, a nightclub, an event center, and a 5,500 car parking garage.
Building on the success of the original Borgata, an expansion was begun just 15 months after its opening. The first phase of Borgata’s expansion features new casino floor space that includes 36 table games, approximately 500 slot machines, an 85-table poker room, seven retail shops, a second nightclub, three fine dining restaurant and a cafeteria.
The 1,000-seat fixed proscenium theatre was designed to support a variety of performance types. Reminiscent of a 1940s jazz and supper club, the configuration of plush, rust-colored stadium seating in a half-oval layout facing the stage optimizes sightlines from any point in the room.
This project was completed by BLTa prior to joining Perkins Eastman.
A rough space was transformed into a retail gallery displaying the latest collections from all over the world. All of the shops complement and contrast the interactive experience and architecture of the casino. The shops are connected internally to one another in an informal path to provide an innovative and stimulating retail experience.
The second phase of Borgata’s expansion features a new 43-story glass hotel tower. The new facility features 760 guest rooms, 20 one-bedroom suites, and 15 two-bedroom suites. There are also four distinct corner suites equipped with a media-rich mini-theater and three residences modeled as chic, New York-style lofts. The hotel’s guests can take advantage of meeting space, six retail locations, and a two-story spa in the sky with 15 treatment rooms and a spacious 25-yard lap pool and fitness center.
