Designed as an entirely new mixed-use community on Manhattan’s Hudson River waterfront, Battery Park City created a new paradigm for how cities around the world could engage their waterfronts. The master plan, completed by EE&K prior to merging with Perkins Eastman, is organized around a series of public environments such as the Esplanade, South Cove, and Rector Place, which rank among New York’s most cherished and enduring public places. Several residential buildings also designed by EE&K, including Liberty Green and Liberty Luxe, provide housing in Lower Manhattan and completing the neighborhood, which is beloved by New Yorkers and visitors alike.
