For its first flagship community, Atria wanted to integrate seniors within the heart of a vibrant downtown community. Perkins Eastman’s design for the development leverages the resources of the local library, waterfront park, senior center, K-8 school, city hall, and the Jewish Community Center. The new building, designed to protect residents from northerly winds, provides Bay and mountain views, and features large sunlit garden courtyards. Forming one edge of the city’s central plaza and contributing to its social framework, the community is positioned above retail and dining establishments, including a casual eatery where residents and neighbors can dine together. Completing the community-centered design, mid-century modern interiors are familiar to the residents who founded Silicon Valley.
