Aegis Madison is an urban community located in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood and includes 120 assisted living and memory care units over structured parking and a lively first floor that bridges the pedestrian focus of busy Madison Street and the quieter residential neighborhood to the north.
Resident amenities include a common dining area, a spa and wellness center, a bistro, a brain gym, a memory garden, a resident theater, and an on-site cafe.
VIA provided all of the architectural design services abiding by the City of Seattle Design Review Guidelines, and was involved in public and neighborhood stakeholder meetings initiated by the Capitol Hill Design Review Board, as well as voluntary presentations to stakeholders.
Through the use of exterior terraces and careful sculpting of the building, the design capitalizes upon a triangular site and views that range from Mt. Baker to the north to Mt. Rainier to the south.
This project won a prestigious 2015 Senior Housing News (SHN) Architecture and Design Award in the Assisted Living category. Aegis Living CEO Dwayne Clark stated “This is an extraordinary award and the envy of many around the country. And it’s more confirmation that we are setting the standard for great projects in senior housing.”
