Originally designed in 1870 by architect John Kellum, 15 Union Square West was the first home of luxury jeweler Tiffany & Company. Though the building underwent many changes in the century that followed, Perkins Eastman’s new design honors the 19th century structure while accommodating luxury residential units, penthouses, and street-level retail establishments. For the building’s dynamic exterior, the team envisioned an outer layer of thermal insulating glass and an inner decorative layer of a transparent material featuring a recreated image of the original cast iron building. Throughout the interior, the team revived original finishes including black walnut, bronze, enameled metals, and other decorative elements. The building includes a full suite of world-class amenities including a gym, swimming pool, spa, and suites of private wine cellars. Private terraces and high ceilings throughout the luxury apartments maximize views of the vibrant, bustling Union Square Park.
