Though he grew up in New York, Stephen became a licensed architect in Ecuador before obtaining licensure in the U.S., having moved to Guayaquil in his twenties. Spending his early career in Ecuador greatly influenced how he approaches architecture as well as how he views the world. With a career now spanning more than 20 years in residential, commercial, institutional projects, Stephen serves as Managing Principal of our Guayaquil studio, splitting his time between Ecuador and New York. A strong proponent for developing safer buildings and sharing technology, especially in countries without the same protections as the U.S., he works to ensure buildings are well-made, safe, and secure. In his free time, Stephen enjoys running marathons, a hobby he believes is similar to designing buildings as both require patience and hard work.
