Jesse Mallen

AIA

Associate Principal

“Having the opportunity to have a positive impact on kids is such an honor—a blessing, a gift.”

Jesse has been practicing architecture since 2003, and at Perkins Eastman since 2005. After practicing in multiple fields over the years, he’s become a specialist in K-12 and College + University—an interest spawned from one of his first assignments at the firm, working on a cancer center for the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland in California. “I remember going home the first day—I had goosebumps, I felt so lucky I was going to be working with kids,” he says.

As an architect in the educational space, Jesse has seen teaching practices and technology change dramatically over the years—particularly since the pandemic has intensified the need for better and more diverse remote learning options. He and his project teams have embraced these changes, learning and growing right along with the students who inhabit the buildings they design.

Our Perkins Eastman

Jesse is committed to mentoring young professionals in Perkins Eastman’s New York studio. He is also a leader with his colleague Mark McCarthy in New York’s K-12 practice area. He serves on the firmwide steering committee for sustainability, and he also helps coordinate educational planners across the firm.
