The transformation of space into the built environment has fascinated Jana since her childhood in Slovakia, from building forts to her studies and research into industrial-heritage conversion projects in Germany, where she began practicing in 2011. Over the years, the thrill of finding creative solutions to technical issues shifted her focus from mixed-use and hospitality to BIM and architectural technology in her later career in Dubai. As a BIM and technical lead at Perkins Eastman’s Dubai studio, Jana embraces technological advancements while encouraging her teams to grow and adopt the concept of ownership. “I believe that BIM, when properly implemented, allows all project team members the opportunity to be the heroes or heroines of their project,” she says. “In this virtual space, we have the chance to address complex challenges and make informed decisions while keeping the human experience and sustainability at the forefront of our creative process.” With collaboration and careful planning, she believes technology can be elevated into an integral part of project development and the delivery of great design.
