“We should always strive to develop high-performance buildings that not only look great and satisfy the client’s needs, but also tell a story about what their owners and the design professionals are all about.”

Some say Jack has been practicing architecture since he was in elementary school, because he’s been drawing buildings since he was in the fourth grade. Since he began formally practicing in 2001, he’s incorporated his varied experiences into architecture that contributes to the urban environment and reflects its culture and community. Over the course of his career, Jack has lived and practiced in Philadelphia, New York and his current hometown in Washington, DC, while working on projects far and wide. He currently specializes in K-12 Education at Perkins Eastman and has successfully completed projects up and down the northeast and Mid-Atlantic seaboards. He particularly enjoys the complexity of buildings in urban environments, which involve multiple layers of approvals and extensive community and stakeholder engagement.

Jack believes that a successfully executed design is a direct result of collaboration between client, architect, and those who will occupy and visit the structure and its surrounding public realm. “It’s a blend of unique and sometimes conflicting sets of requirements that end up being reflected in a creative way in the form of a building,” he says. “This is what makes architecture exciting and why we can find inspiration from many sources.”

Jack is passionate about two things – design and mentoring emerging professionals. This includes engaging young practitioners and collaborating with them on all aspects of the design process and helping them develop the skillsets required to lead a project.
