Associate Principal

“We’re well past the point of designing buildings like monuments. Good design today has to be contextual, which to me not only means strengthening our critical role as environmental stewards but also getting meaningfully better at being inclusive in our approach to design and construction.”

Ever since visiting New York City at a young age and marveling at its iconic metropolitan landscape, John has recognized design’s pervasive influence on social factors that range from education and culture to economics and equity. Throughout his career of thirty-plus years, John has explored this influence through the lens of architecture as both a contextual practice and a means of creating the memorable impressions of place that make buildings meaningful to people and communities. With a technical expertise equal to his ability to conceive projects as people-centered experiences, his work as an architect and project manager encompasses design and master planning for libraries, classroom buildings, and performing arts centers as well as academic campuses and student precincts, both for new buildings and the transformative renewal of existing buildings.

Our Perkins Eastman

In addition to his role as architect and project manager at Pfeiffer—A Perkins Eastman Studio, John is actively involved in keeping staff up to date with professional best practices as well as mentoring the next generation of architects as they grow in their careers.
