Architecture was a natural path for Federico, who’s always wanted to make things – “real, tangible things” – that not only serve a function but also provide richness, comfort, empowerment and delight. During a career that’s spanned more than twenty-five years, he’s gravitated toward public-sector and community projects such as K-12 and higher education, performing-arts, infrastructure, landscape design, and more recently, healthcare. He takes pride seeing these designs that will be, as he calls them, “long-term participants and enablers within the urban fabric of New York and where people live, learn, work, play, and heal.” With each type of project, he calls upon his expertise in solving complex problems – design, process, organizational, interpersonal—and helping preserve the design intent while keeping an eye on project goals, and stakeholder constraints and aspirations—both externally and internally.
