Associate Principal

"Architecture is an intellectual lifestyle that involves experimenting, creating, innovating, informing, risk taking, rule breaking, perfecting. Buildings happen to be a pleasing outcome."

Born in Shanghai and educated at top universities in China and the United States, Yi began his career with a deep understanding of both cultures. His experience spans across America and Asia with a wide variety of projects that include education, senior living, creative office, mixed use, research and development, hospitality and corporate interiors. His substantial design background and attention to detail have earned him multiple design awards and publication in both continents.

Yi is currently co-managing Perkins Eastman’s Shanghai studio while continuing to deliver high-quality design for both old and new clients. He’s also dedicated to cultivating and inspiring emerging young talent across the studio.

Our Perkins Eastman

Thanks to his unique background and more than seventeen years of experience in architectural design, construction and management in the United States and China, Yi strives to mesh the two cultures in his architectural practice. His current focus is on the K-12 education, Higher-Ed and Senior Living practice areas.
