Mary enjoys the creative process of designing buildings that meet her clients’ needs while also complementing the site where they’re located – a combination that presents a different challenge with each new project. As Managing Director of Perkins Eastman DC, PLLC, a certified business enterprise in the District of Columbia, Mary is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, performance, and policies of the firm. For over 20 years, she’s been involved in the design of award-winning projects in the District of Columbia. Her creative design and problem-solving abilities have assisted in creating compelling designs for a variety of project types, including high-performance LEED Gold and Platinum education facilities. To share her passion for architecture with the next generation, she participates in the AIA | DC Committee on Architecture in Education and the Washington Architectural Foundation’s ongoing “Architecture in the Schools” program, teaching young children about the practice of architecture.
Our Perkins Eastman
In 2018, Mary created a training series in DC for emerging project leaders to share the lessons she learned with project managers and to encourage others to consider the career path. The program has since been adopted by the firmwide Project Management Committee and rolled out to teams of architects in every Perkins Eastman studio, providing resources, support and mentoring for young professionals on a project-manager and leadership track.
