Yücel was drawn to architecture as a way of improving the world and helping people through design. Practicing since 2017, he’s worked in a variety of practice areas including healthcare, urban design, hospitality, senior living, civic, and higher education. He appreciates the flexibility of performing different roles in different projects and has found that he often gravitates to project management. His favorite project thus far has been the Türkevi Center in New York. Not only is it an iconic building in the city’s skyline, it was also his introduction to Perkins Eastman, where, as an intern, he worked on construction documents, proposed design solutions, and got to interface with clients. Also impactful on his career growth was the Lancaster, CA, Medical Main Street Master Plan, a mixed-use development surrounding the local hospital, where he stepped into the project manager role alongside the design. The experience working with clients and government entities there paved the way for his current duties.
