Brooklyn STEAM Center

Brooklyn, NY

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) partnered with the Department of Education to develop a high school program site to be located in Building 77 in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The largest development in the Yard in generations, Building 77 is the new public gateway, locating the STEAM Center in a prominent location within the Yard. The STEAM Center is a facility for the next generation of Career and Technical Education (CTE), serving as a central location for programming and experiential learning for CTE high schools in Brooklyn, New York. The program is divided into pathways, Culinary, Film and Media, Computer Science, Design and Engineering, and Construction. The center is designed to have space dedicated to each pathway as well as shared and collaboration space.  The students spend half of their day at the STEAM center during their Junior and Senior years, focusing on the pathway of their choosing. The STEAM Center will also collaborate with the industries on the Navy Yard, offering students access to professionals in the field of their interest and internships.
