Nestled into its mountain horizon, the Imig Music Building was built in 1954 and expanded in 1979 and 1996. The addition of a new wing allowed the college’s music programs to relocate from Macky Auditorium, where practice and rehearsal spaces were cramped and acoustically challenged. This latest update also provides a dance studio and theater rehearsal hall, facilitating a synergy of the arts. Other key programmatic elements include a 120-seat recital hall, large ensemble and chamber rehearsal spaces, practice rooms, and a state-of-the-art recording studio. There are dedicated suites for the university’s Entrepreneurship Center for Music and Musicians’ Wellness Program, in addition to new classroom space and additional office and studio space for faculty and staff.
This project was designed by Pfeiffer prior to joining Perkins Eastman.
