Alkis has always been fascinated by architecture and the unexpected ways that its presence and meaning can evolve according to the people who inhabit it and the events that unfold there. “No amount of design or forecasting prepares an architect for that moment when the building he or she designs becomes part of an event or performance,” he says. Accordingly, his design process centers around the significance of buildings in creating space that fosters and facilitates community building. Across scales and sectors, this approach is fundamental to his design ethos.

Since Alkis began practicing in 1999, he’s worked across a multitude of programs, typologies, scales and complexity, both domestically and abroad. He’s had extensive involvement in large, mixed-use projects that include a variety of multifamily and high-rise residential projects. He’s also had comprehensive experience in hospitality projects, Class A office towers, and campuses as well as broader urban design and master planning work, both in urban and suburban contexts.  Alkis has overseen the design management of large projects from concept to completion, contributing closely to their generation, feasibility, planning, and technical aspects.
