Construction of the Wuxi Cultural Arts Center continues to proceed at a swift pace. The final girder was put into place this month for the Taihu Bright Moon dome over the main section of Wuxi Symphony Hall. The ceremonial placement marked the completion of all the project’s major structural works since construction began on April 2, 2023. The entire project is on track for completion by mid-December, allowing the New Year’s concert on January 1, 2026, to take place as scheduled.
The milestone follows the completion of the interior concrete shell for Symphony Hall. It highlights one of the Hall’s most distinguishing features: windows that will allow natural light into the room. Yi Shen of our Shanghai studio remarked that the dramatic play of light that we tried to evoke in our competition visualization is even more stunning in person.
