Perkins Eastman Unveils Concept Master Plan and Designs for ‘The New City, Guayaquil’

Proposed New Center of Guayaquil Set to Become Model for Sustainable and Resilient Urban Regeneration in Latin America

Guayaquil, Ecuador – Global design firm Perkins Eastman is pleased to join Mayor of Guayaquil Jaime Nebot, and fellow design partners, for the official unveiling of the concept design and master plan for ‘The New City’ (La Nueva Ciudad). The 240-hectare site (593 acres) is presently home to the José Joaquín De Olmedo International Airport, which is planned to be relocated west of the city. A press conference was held earlier today to present ‘The New City’ to local media and city officials; Perkins Eastman was joined by design, building, and technical leaders from fellow team members Arup, CVA, Metros Cuadrados, and RWDI.
