Miranda spent as much time as possible outdoors while she was growing up in New Jersey, and she thrived in team environments, including swimming, which she pursued all the way through college. She also enjoyed creative projects and the challenge of logical-thinking puzzles. Miranda fell in love with architecture and sustainable design in college, which was a way for her to combine all her passions—the environment, the teamwork of collaborative design, and the puzzle-like quality of arranging building programming and orientation.
Miranda started her career with a dream project at Perkins Eastman DC, PLLC (a certified business enterprise in the District of Columbia) in 2019: The net-zero-energy Benjamin Banneker Academic High School just down the street from our DC office. She went on to work with design teams in mixed-use, senior living, and research projects before coming back to the K-12 practice area. Miranda enjoys working with project stakeholders, from students, families, and community members to owners, contractors, and consultants. “I strive to find solutions that make everyone happy, while positively impacting individual users, community wellness, and the greater environment,” she says.

Miranda is a champion for sustainability throughout the firm’s DC studio, where she has previously served as a Green Coordinator and currently takes the role of sustainability lead on high-performance education projects. She participates in the firmwide mentorship program as both mentor and mentee and inspires young people by teaching for Architecture in the Schools and leading a team for ACE Mentorship. She also organizes the DC office each summer with programming for the Summer Studio, which involves both interns and the entire office staff through lectures, educational workshops, and project site visits. And she still participates in team sports as co-caption of the PE volleyball team in the local AEC summer league.
