American Fork Patriot Village Vision Plan

American Fork, Utah
The city of American Fork is on the verge of implementing a visionary transit-oriented development in the heart of the Utah Valley, near the scenic northern shores of Utah Lake, known as the American Fork Patriot Village Vision Plan. This vision encompasses a vibrant mixed-use community that is oriented around a walkable, bikeable, and sustainable lifestyle, and is supported by easy access to commuter rail and bus service.

The Patriot Village Vision Plan establishes innovative design concepts for streets and the public realm, specific proposals for integrating existing and new infrastructure, and a long-term strategy for connecting Patriot Village to Utah Lake, from “Station to Shore.” The Vision Plan is organized around five distinct and interconnected mixed-use neighborhoods, or districts, each of which is oriented around a signature “key place” that is universally accessible and designed to leverage a multitude of residential, commercial, and retail opportunities. These key places--Station Square, Pioneer Boulevard, Patriot Avenue, Veterans Park, and Recreation Park--are at the heart of their respective neighborhoods as well as the community at large.

The proposed design foresees a true 21st-Century community, one that features a permeable street network that is friendly and accessible to pedestrians as well as available transit modes; emphasizes sense of community by introducing various key places situated among the Village’s districts; and finally, celebrates connectivity to the natural environment.
