Various Locations
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is building new and renovated Community Living Centers (CLCs) on many of its medical campuses throughout the country. Perkins Eastman has had the privilege of designing several of this first wave of new CLCs: two at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois, and two at the North Chicago VAMC. Each CLC is approximately 7,500 sf with 10 to 12 private bedrooms.

Designed under the VA’s Community Living Center guidelines, with a dual focus on resident privacy and communal engagement, these new CLCs offer residents the comforts of home within a household model replete with open kitchens and living areas. The game-changing VA Illiana residences, completed in 2013, are also among the VA’s first CLCs that are certified Green Houses, under the nationally recognized Green House Project®.

Further to the south, Perkins Eastman also recently broke ground on The Central Arkansas Veterans Homes in North Little Rock, an ambitious development comprising 12 homes with a capacity for 168 residents, situated on a new 87,100 sf campus that overlooks the Arkansas River.
