Loeb Memorial Boathouse

New York, New York
The expansion of the Loeb Memorial Boathouse sensitively accommodates new program requirements into an existing structure while maintaining its architectural and historical character. The specific design objectives included accentuating the airy rustic elegance of the existing Boathouse, increasing public accessibility to the facility and to the lake, and enhancing the waterside setting as originally intended in the Olmstead and Vaux plan. Now completed, the Boathouse has regained its historic significance as a major focal point and public space in Central Park.

This project was completed by the Principals and staff of EE&K prior to merging with Perkins Eastman.
