Kuwait Justice Complex

Kuwait City, Kuwait
Perkins Eastman is providing planning and interior design services for a new 4M sf justice complex in Kuwait City, Kuwait, which upon its completion will be one of the largest courthouses in the world.

Located on a prominent downtown site a block from the Arabian Gulf with 360-degree views, the twin 50-story towers, designed by WS Atkins & Partners Overseas, replace the existing 50-court Palace of Justice on an adjacent site. The building is organized around a series of vertical atrium spaces, bringing natural light to the public areas and the interior spaces on the office floors. The court floors—holding 156 courtrooms—are designed to be prisoner-capable and allow for maximum flexibility in the future.

The new facilities provide courtrooms for the Court of First Insistence, Court of Appeals, and the Cassation Court—the highest court in the country—prisoner holding facilities, administrative and executive offices, parking for judges and up to 4,000 visitors, and offices for the prosecuting attorneys and other ancillary functions.
