Dubai Port, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation retained Perkins Eastman and Belluschi Consulting to create architecture for the Al Hamriya Port Waterfront development that reflects Dubai’s origins as a seafaring community on the Arabian Gulf. Perkins Eastman’s scope of work involved developing plans for the various buildings outlined in the approved 10 hectare (24.7 acre) master plan with elevations based on contextual architecture. The 164,675 sm (1.7M sf) program includes a five-star hotel, leasable offices, four-star hotel and related amenities, restaurants, a Souk, health club, gourmet restaurant, entertainment center, art gallery, flagship stores, hypermarket  with flagship store, nautical club and leisure marina, as well as a working fishing port with a dock, marina center, workers’ housing, marina observation platform, and boat yard.
