Metro Green Apartments

Stamford, Connecticut
The LEED-ND Gold certified Metro Green Apartments is a new 49,400 sf affordable housing community, the first phase of a comprehensive transit-oriented revitalization development project that will eventually include 238 mixed-income rental units and a 17-story office tower. The four-story apartment building complements the surrounding mix of apartments, office buildings, and transportation hub—recalling the historic elements in the area.

The building’s 50 units comprise a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments designed to meet the federal and state requirements for accessibility. Each unit has access to natural light with large, high-performance windows that simultaneously flood apartments with light while maintaining a consistent temperature. Amenities for the units include a management office, community room, laundry room, bike storage room, and a bulletin board for ride-share and other community notice. Metro Green Apartments was envisioned by the development and design team as both a refined, open, and airy community for residents as well as an environmentally development that meets the highest standards of green design. The phased development is participating in the US Green Building Council’s Neighborhood Development Pilot Program and the Metro Green Apartments is independently seeking Gold certification. Sustainable features include laminate containing banana fiber, low- or no-VOC paints, a white roof, and two 10,000-gallon concrete storage tanks contain and filter rain water gathered from the roof.
