Vladivostok Retreat House and Hotel

Vladivostok, Russia
Perkins Eastman was invited as part of an international team of architects, engineers, and planners to develop a master plan for the APEC 2012 Summit Conference on Russky Island across from Vladivostok, the only Russian port city on the Pacific Ocean. The “Retreat House” is a concept for provide housing for the 21 attending world leaders. It includes five-star accommodations, informal meeting places, dining, and private meeting rooms while providing a high level of security.

The design includes a major ceremonial entrance that leads to a series of informal open lounges at an intermediate level. From here, dining and meeting rooms, the fitness center/spa, and outdoor terraces all step down to take advantage of views. Sleeping accommodations and private offices are on upper levels. Other amenities include below-grade parking and a private dock.

After the APEC 2012 Summit, all of the venues will become a new Scientific Educational Center for the Far East Federal University and the Russian Academy of Science. Perkins Eastman is preparing the Research Report for the development of the new Scientific Educational Center within the APEC 2012 Project.
