Huizhou HuaMao Center

Guangdong, China
Huizhou Huamao Center is envisioned to be a vibrant retail commercial and residential destination on a 135,000 sm site. The project includes a large plaza; a five-story shopping mall with 100,000 sm of retail space; and six residential towers clustered in three groupings with townhouses and retail that provides over 300,000 sm of space. The project is anchored by two office towers that provide over 130,000 sm of commercial space.

Careful consideration has been given to how well the urban scheme is woven into the existing urban fabric. The overall configuration of the master plan strives to develop synergies with surrounding land uses while still maintaining a distinct identity. A unique aspect of the project involves a water feature in the plaza that not only enlivens the plaza, but generates income, as well. Retail pavilions and a tea house were developed on one side of the feature and an ice skating rink was developed on the other side. The roof of the ice skating rink is sculpted into a green lawn that is the focal point of the open plaza.
