Kimpton Eventi Hotel and the Beatrice Residences at 835 Sixth Avenue

New York, New York
835 Sixth Avenue is a new 53-story, 620,000 sf mixed-use tower in Manhattan’s thriving Chelsea neighborhood. Rising out of landscaped public urban plaza, the slender building comprises 302 luxury rental apartments, a 290-key hotel with banquet facilities, meeting rooms and event suites with private terraces, a full-floor restaurant overlooking the plaza, a ground floor cafe and retail space, and below-grade parking for 500 cars. The tower was designed to take advantage of views of both the Hudson and East rivers, and a lounge and terrace on the top floor provide sweeping 360-degree views of the entire city.

The building celebrates and enriches its urban context, transforming one of the last undeveloped sites in a neighborhood that was rezoned several years ago. It is one of the tallest buildings in the area, and has become an elegant addition to the skyline. The variegated facade expresses each of the major uses, while the limited palette of materials creates unity in the design within the mixed-use program. The major materials for the exterior include glass, precast concrete panels, and aluminum mullions and panels. Accents in the public plaza include granite, a reflecting pool, and an allée of trees. The integration of the hotel and restaurants with the public plaza make 835 Sixth Avenue a destination and public amenity.
