The Problem

Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has been working with Perkins Eastman on a three-year multi-phased renovation of their corporate offices. This project aims to transform their former traditional office space into a “Workplace of the Future,” in which a mobile workplace strategy will better support collaboration, innovation, and accelerate product speed to market. To date, various departments have successfully made the transition. However, the project faced a challenging turn as it began to engage the product line groups. For instance, the Diabetes Group was resistant to change and had varying needs for being on-site. They also required different opportunities for collaboration versus heads-down work. Perkins Eastman Strategies joined the project team to deliver a deep understanding of each department’s needs, creating distinctive workplace solutions required for this phase.
